- Do you accept pets?
Yes. *A fixed cleaning charge of £30.00, payable upon check in, will be incurred per stay to account for a deep clean of the hotel room following check out to protect future guests from allergies. Guide dogs, assistance dogs, and hearing dogs are exempt from this charge. Please provide proof. We do not allow dogs inside the dining room during breakfast service.
- Is your bar open to non-residents?
Yes, our bar is open to non-residents and we invite you to enjoy our terrace. Our bar closes at 23:00 unless we have an event taking place.
- Parking?
Sadly, we do not have parking available. We do not have a car park or disabled parking facility. We cannot guarantee or reserve parking spaces.
Belgrave Road including outside the hotel is public and residential. Parallel to one side, one-way road. Park Avenue (neighbouring road) offers public, FOC residential parking parallel both sides. The Grove Car Park, 2 Marlborough Rd Ventnor, Isle of Wight PO38 1TE, UK is a short walk payable by coins, Pay by Phone and card.
- Check in and out?
You may check into your room from 15:00. We ask for guests to check in before 23:00. You are required to check out by 10:30. If you have not vacated your bedroom by 11:00 a fee of £40.00 will be charged.
- Are you directly on the beach?
No, we are situated on top of a hill, we have private steps to take you directly to the beach from our terrace.
- Do you have a restaurant?
Sadly, we do not have a restaurant and do not serve lunches or evening meals. Breakfast is available in our dining room or terrace.
- Do you have somewhere to store bikes?
Yes, we have a secure metal bike rack for guests at our entrance. Please bring your own lock for this facility.
- Can I smoke on my balcony?
Sadly, we do not allow smoking on balconies, please use the designated smoking areas.
- Do you have any offers for the ferry?
Yes, we have a discount available with Wightlink Ferries. This is a book yourself service with an affiliated link. Discount percentage varies throughout the year and can be anywhere between 15% - 35%.
- Do you have interconnecting rooms?
Sadly, we do not have any interconnecting rooms.
- How much is the fee for an extra bed or cot?
Z-beds can be added for a surcharge of £10.00 per bed, per stay. Z-beds are only suitable for children or teens. Cots can be added for a surcharge of £5.00 per cot, per stay. Please check with your room type as some rooms do not have the capacity. Z-bed and cots are subject to availability.
- How do I pay for my reservation?
All payment is due on check in by card payment only. Apple Pay accepted. We do not accept American Express. We do not accept cheques. You may complete payment for your booking prior to arrival should you wish by calling our team.
- How long is the drive to you from my ferry?
Wightlink Yarmouth Car Ferry is approximately 40 minutes away via car. (Discount available)
Wightlink Fishbourne Car Ferry is approximately 30 minutes away via car. (Discount available)
Red Funnel East Cowes Car Ferry is approximately 35 minutes away via car.

- How far is the town centre?
3 minute walk.
- Which is the closest Train Station?
Shanklin train station, this is 2 towns away.
- Which is the closest bus stop?
Ventnor Boots. You will need the number 3 service.
- Which is the closest ferry?
Wightlink Fishbourne Car Ferry is approximately 30 minutes away via car. (Discount available)
- Are you suitable for mobility issues and do you have a lift?
We are not suited for those with walking difficulties/disabilities. We have multiple sets of stairs/steps which are unavoidable, due to our cliff built location we have no generic ground floor level. We do not have a lift.
- Room Amenities?
Towels and linen will be supplied along with a hairdryer, safe, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries. Each room will have a television to enjoy.
- Do all bedrooms have a sea view and balcony?
No, please check the room type when you make your booking. Some rooms have a view of the street. Some rooms do not have a balcony and/or sea view.

Ventnor has a beautiful, gently sloping beach of sand and fine shingle set in a sheltered bay. The southernmost beach on the Isle of Wight the beach is popular all year round but is more tranquil than the larger resorts even at the height of the summer season. Nestled in the bay beneath the tumbling tiers of the Victorian town, this red shingle and golden sand beach has vintage beach huts which can be hired on a daily basis from the hut on the seawall, as can deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks, which are hammered into the sand for you with an old wooden mallet. Along the seafront, there are a small number of shops, amusements, cafes and restaurants as well as a family public house serving food.
- During January, February, and March 2024 The Wellington will be operating as a Room Only accommodation with housekeeping and check in services only. During this time, guests will be provided with a front door key for ease of access. The bar and kitchen will remain closed until April.
- The Wellington Hotel owns NO parking.
- We operate as a B&B and do not serve evening meals or lunches.
- We accept pets, our pet fee is 30.00GBP per room with pet. Pets must not be left in bedrooms unattended at any time. Should you leave the hotel please take your friend with you.
